9:25 – 9:45 Clyde Sorenson, NC State University The Asian Longhorned Tick: A New Threat to North Carolina Wildlife, Clyde will discuss the occurrence and biology of this new introduced tick species and what it might mean for deer and other wildlife.

9:50 – 10:10 Alicia Davis, NC Wildlife Resources Commission Getting Edu-Gatored in North Carolina: Alicia is the NC WRC’s alligator biologist, working to learn more about alligators in our state. Hear about the lesser-known ecological benefits of these reptiles and challenges facing alligators at the northern extent of their range.

10:15 – 10:35 Casey Phillips, NC Wildlife Resources Commission Optimizing Forest Management for Habitat and Revenue on NC Game Lands: NCWRC has entered into a joint project with NCSU to develop a linear programing based forest management plan that optimizes the timing of silvicultural treatments to meet both habitat and financial goals for the agency.
