Conservation Plan
A Conservation Plan was first developed in 2009 (and later revised in 2015) that describes, evaluates, and prioritizes an interconnected network of essential core ecosystems in the Cape Fear Arch region and identifies gaps in the existing network for protection and restoration priorities. This strategic and inclusive approach to long-term planning will be provided as a tool to inform planning at regional and local levels.
Priority Focal Areas
The Conservation Plan contains 21 focal areas to focus our conservation efforts. These were developed by:

Natural Heritage Program Inventory data and identifying clusters of significant natural heritage areas;

Utilizing the Landscape Habitat Indicator Guild analysis, one of the layers in the Biodiversity and Wildlife Habitat Assessment as a surrogate map for the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission’s Wildlife Action Plan; and
-
Tapping its membership to identify places that, based on the group’s expertise, were ecologically important, as well as those under the most threat.
