Coordinated and promoted internationally by The Ocean Project since 2002, World Oceans Day is an annual celebration on June 8 as well as a call for ocean conservation action throughout the year.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher celebration will include special youth-focused plastic pollution events, programs and activities throughout each day. The aquarium is partnering with MarineQuest, the official marine science outreach program for the University of North Carolina Wilmington, to provide activities focused on right whales. All OceanFest programs and activities are free with paid admission or aquarium membership. Aquarium at Fort Fisher details available on their website.
