Fire in the Pines Festival is a Success!

October is Fire Awareness Month and on October 12th, the annual Fire in the Pines Festival brought out thousands of people to Halyburton Park to enjoy a fun educational day learning about how controlled burns benefit our community. The Nature Conservancy, Coastal Land Trust, NC Forest Service and The City of Wilmington partnered together to bring over 50 local educational booths, food trucks, face painters and entertainment to Wilmington. The grand-finale was a demonstration controlled burn. Festival go-ers can revisit the park to see the amazing benefits of prescribed fire to the longleaf community. Thank you to all the Cape Fear Arch partners for attending and being a part of a great successful festival!
